What is SpicyChat AI?

SpicyChat AI is an adults-only chat platform where you roleplay with characters written by other users, or write your own. It is run by NextDay AI Inc. of Montreal, Canada, which has subsidiaries in Delaware and Cyprus, according to its terms. The company says it launched in 2023 and reached 100 million users by the end of 2025; we couldn’t confirm that figure independently.

The characters are user-made, but the replies come from large language models. SpicyChat’s model list names more than 10, and which ones you can pick depends on your plan.

How much does SpicyChat cost?

SpicyChat costs $5.95, $19.95 or $29.95 a month, or $60, $199.95 or $299.95 a year, per its subscribe page on October 18, 2026. The tiers differ mainly in memory, models and media:

Prices rose on all three paid tiers on September 8, 2026, from $5.00, $14.95 and $24.95 a month. SpicyChat’s pricing FAQ says existing subscribers keep their old price while their plan stays active and unchanged; any upgrade, downgrade or switch moves them to current pricing. There are no free trials of paid tiers, and sales tax or VAT may be added.

One inconsistency: the subscribe page and docs say I’m All In reaches 32K context, but a help-center table updated September 21, 2026 still says 16K.

Is SpicyChat free?

Yes. A free account can chat with any public character using six base models, with a 4,096-token context window and replies capped at 180 tokens. SpicyChat’s docs say that window holds roughly the last 20 messages with a typical character. Free accounts see ads and can be queued during heavy traffic, though the help center says there is usually no queue.

SpicyChat doesn’t publish a daily message cap for free accounts. Third-party guides disagree, from no cap to 100 messages a day, so we couldn’t confirm one.

What do published reviews like about SpicyChat?

The size of the character library is the most praised feature. SpicyChat’s own browse view listed about 379,000 characters on October 18, 2026, and reviewers cite 300,000 or more. Other common positives:

• A free tier you can use without a card (WeavAI, Latin Times).
• A choice of AI models, including very large ones on the top tier (TechShark, RoboRhythms).
• Fewer content restrictions than mainstream chatbots, with a setting to switch adult content off (AI Companion Guides).
• Group chats with several characters (SpicyChat docs, AI Companion Guides).

What do reviewers criticize?

Short memory is the most common complaint, especially on the free and $5.95 tiers, where characters lose track of long conversations (AI Companion Guides, WeavAI). Other recurring criticisms:

• Character quality varies widely across a user-made library, and replies can turn repetitive (AI Companion Guides, Latin Times).
• RoboRhythms argues the $5.95 tier mostly removes ads and queues, and that $19.95 is the first tier where replies noticeably improve.
• Images are weaker than on visual-first apps, and there is no video (WeavAI).
• Trustpilot showed 2.1 out of 5 from 61 reviews on October 18, 2026, with complaints about automated moderation and hard-to-reach support.

Is SpicyChat safe?

SpicyChat is a real business run by a named Canadian company, with published content rules and third-party age checks where the law requires them. Its privacy terms are the weakest part. What its own pages say:

AirDroid’s safety review adds that chats are stored on SpicyChat’s servers without end-to-end encryption. One more risk: a Google Play app called “Spicy Chat AI” comes from an unrelated publisher. SpicyChat’s official Android app isn’t on Google Play at all.

Why does SpicyChat ask you to verify your age?

Local laws require it. If you connect from the UK, France, Italy, Australia or about 26 US states, SpicyChat asks for a video selfie or ID check, run by a third-party provider, before showing adult content. Your region is set by your IP address, not your billing details.

SpicyChat says it receives only a pass or fail result and never stores the selfie or ID. Unverified users in those regions can still chat, without adult content. Its docs list 26 states, including West Virginia, while a help-center article lists 25. Elsewhere, the age gate is a self-declared 18+ confirmation, according to AirDroid.

Does SpicyChat have an app?

SpicyChat has an Android app, but not on Google Play, and no iPhone app. Apple removed the iOS app in August 2025, and SpicyChat’s notice said installed copies would stop working after September 25, 2025. iPhone users are told to add the website to their home screen.

The official Android app is a direct download from SpicyChat’s site, updated about weekly. NextDay AI also runs a separate, non-adult sister app called PixelChat on Google Play, and a subscription bought there carries over to SpicyChat on the same account.

How do you cancel SpicyChat?

You cancel a website subscription from your profile, and paid features stay on until the end of the period you paid for. The steps, from SpicyChat’s help center:

1. Log in at spicychat.ai and open your profile.
2. Select Manage Subscription.
3. Cancel the plan and confirm.

Your account then returns to the free tier with nothing deleted. Subscriptions bought through PixelChat on Google Play, SubscribeStar or Boosty must be canceled on that platform, and deleting your SpicyChat account doesn’t stop those charges.

Refunds are limited. The refund policy, updated October 7, 2026, says fees aren’t refundable once the account has been used. A help-center article allows refunds on direct card payments requested within 24 hours with minimal use. Crypto and bank payments can’t be refunded.
