OurDream’s allowance goes much further on images; Candy AI’s goes further on voice calls; video comes out about even. This is our arithmetic using OurDream’s official cost guide and the Candy AI rates reported by The Companion Index and AIGirlsRated:

OurDream publishes its full cost list. Candy AI shows per-action costs only inside an account, which CompanionScope also flagged as making a true monthly cost hard to calculate.

Which has the better free tier?

Neither is generous. Candy AI gives 5 messages in total, one custom character and one image. OurDream AI lets you keep chatting, but each message costs one dreamcoin from a small starter balance, and images and video are locked. For trying the conversation, OurDream lasts longer; for seeing one image, only Candy AI allows it free.

Which is better for privacy?

Neither is private, and both say they may use your content to improve their AI. The differences are in the details:

What do independent comparisons conclude?

They split, mostly along the same lines as the cost tables above:

  • RoboRhythms (September 25, 2026) found Candy AI cheaper for chat-first users on its yearly plan, and OurDream better for media-heavy users because its per-action prices let you plan spending.
  • AI Blog First (July 2026) called it even: Candy AI ahead on price flexibility and media range, OurDream on scenario depth and predictable billing.
  • CompanionScope (August 11, 2026) found OurDream’s coin schedule easier to inspect, but said neither publishes enough to compute a true monthly cost.
  • Ourasociety (June 4, 2026) picked Candy AI for personalization and roleplay consistency and OurDream for visuals, the reverse of several other reviews on roleplay.

OurDream also publishes its own comparison declaring itself the winner on value and memory. It is marketing, and RoboRhythms notes it misstates one Candy AI price.

What happens when you cancel each one?

Both keep your paid access until the end of the billing period, but they treat your content differently afterward:

  1. Candy AI drops your account to the free version. Its terms say unused tokens expire at the end of that period.
  2. OurDream AI keeps your content but blurs generated images and videos until you subscribe again. Its help articles disagree on whether unused coins survive.

Refunds are tight on both. Candy AI allows requests within 24 hours with 20 or fewer tokens used, card payments only. OurDream refuses refunds on anything more than 25% used and treats crypto payments as final.

Neither has a native iOS or Android app, according to their own help centers. Both run in a phone or desktop browser and can be added to your home screen as a web app. Store apps using either name come from other developers, so avoid them and go to candy.ai or ourdream.ai directly.
